This Microsoft Xbox 360 (often referred to as the 'slim' version), launched on June of 2010 in North America, is an upgraded version of the original 360 with a smaller form factor. It sports an upgraded 45nm chipset, integrated 2.4GHz 802.11n WiFi, five USB ports, and 250GB of removable storage by way of proprietary hard drive (not compatible with original 360 drives). Additionally, this 360 features a custom Kinect port on the back and an internal power supply.
The 'slim' 360's more efficient 45nm chipset allows for cooler operating temperatures and a much quieter operating volume than the classic 360 by way of one large fan rather than two. Its integrated 2.4GHz 802.11n WiFi card ensures that no external WiFi adapter will be needed while its custom Kinect port allows for an easy installation of the Kinect motion-sensing peripheral. Also, the 'slim' 360's slimmer form factor allows for easier storage, especially due to its internal power supply.

I'm a very discerning IT hardware engineering professional and a gamer. I research my large ticket item purchases and eval them myself before buying. I bought an ASUS Laptop / IntelĀ® Core(TM) i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 8GB Memory - Black, Model: G73SW-BST6 | SKU: 1774899 at Best Buy, that along with the machine specs. would have made this a great purchase for the money by itself... but with a free Microsoft Xbox 360 4 Gb. console to boot, it was over-the-top. A second Xbox in the house allows me to have two network Internet connections to two TVs and access to all those games, items & services Xbox has made popular (like streaming NetFlix). I'm not crazy about the Xbox annual subscription prices, but I do like the console, convenience, features, performance and think it's as good or better than anything else out there.
What can I say about the XBox 360 console other then IT IS TERRIFIC.

I got the new 4GB Xbox 360 Slim a few weeks ago after my older model broke down. Unfortunatly the 250 GB is no longer made, from what I'm told. Im quite impressed with the new design. Its actually quieter than the oringal model. The controller is redesigned which fits better in my hands. It's also lower in price than the PS3 which I spent almost double on the PS3. I really like the integrated wi-fi which I believe is faster than the PS3's wi-fi. I use Netfilx on my Xbox than on the PS3 because of its faster streaming capability. To maximize the HD quailty I bought the Xbox 360 HDMI cables and a fiber optic audio cable. There are a few cons: 1. The 4GB model doesn't have enough memory to transfer your old games and saves. So you have to buy the 250 GB drive if you want to transfer your old stuff over. 2. No blu-ray player. 3. Xbox Live can get a little pricey. Overall...I'm very pleased with the Xbox 360 Slim. Just hope that the Red Ring of Death doesn't happen.
