The idea behind the Linksys PLK300 Powerline AV Network Adapter Kit is that it's an instant home network in a box. It's also an improvement, doubling the speed of its predecessor (the PLK200) from 100 mbps to 200 mbps while keeping 128-bit AES encryption for security. The kit includes a single port adapter (the PLE300), which is connected to a router or the hub of an existing network. The other four port adapter included in the kit (the PLS300) plugs into an ordinary power outlet and can connect to up to four Ethernet-equipped devices (such as computers, TiVos, or digital media adapters) which then become part of the LAN network and can share HD videos, photos, documents, networked games, printers, and internet. By converting the existing powerlines of a house into high-speed connections, Linksys offers an alternative to the costly installation of a brand new network of Ethernet lines. If necessary, additional adapters (PLE300) can be purchased separately to add more devices to the network. The Linksys PLK300 includes a CD-ROM with instructions for setup, a 1 year limited warranty and free technical support.

I bought a New wireless router because my old kept getting me kicked off Call of Duty 2 PS3 and my netflix wouldn't connect. Bought a Linksys WRT310 with (Gigabit connection ports )and My PS3 worked better but I still got kicked off. (wireless) So I did some research and POWERLINE was the way to go! and Linksys was 1 of the best. I must say after 2min install time I was up and running hard wired in with a consistent connection. 1 part down stairs the other up stairs 4300sq ft house. it also has a internal surge protector. Don't pay more than $8-$10 for 7ft of cat5e cables! every major stores carry them. and it comes with 2 cat5 blue cables!

I don't know what the deal is with the people posting negative reviews of this product, but I could not be happier. On a scale of 1-10 of tech-savviness, i am probably a 6. That being said, I unpacked this, gave the instructions a quick read, and plugged in both units. Instantly detected by the internet connectible Samsung TV, my PS3, and my son's computer. I wanted to do a stress test, so I had every device connected to my network active. (downloading demo on my xbox 360, downloading a torrent on my main computer, streaming an HD video file on my son's computer, downloading a demo on my PS3, and streaming a Netflix movie in HD on the TV.) Everything performed perfectly. No slowdowns on any of the devices. If you hate wireless like I do, and your wife won't let you run wires through the walls like mine won't, this product is a godsend. A bit on the pricey side, but the lack of hassle is well worth it.

Does everything you hope it will when you are thinking about trying out "powerline" technology. I was skeptical about this tech at first but I am truly impressed. This is the truest plug-and-play technology there is. Takes 5 seconds to plug in and is immediately linked and active. I was watching full-HD, uninterrupted Netflix streaming movies from my Xbox all night long after spending litterally 10 seconds setting this up. HUGE upgrade from the old-school Xbox Wireless adapter.

After struggling to find a way to increase the wireless router range to the far parts of my house (three different N routers), I stumbled upon this and said hey lets give it a shot, nothing else has worked, and amazingly right out of the box, came a functional ethernet port in the far reaches of my house. I currently have a second router plugged into one of the 4 ports available. This product was sooooo easy to setup, and provides faster than wireless ethernet speeds just as if it was plugged into a modem directly. More people should know about how great this product is. Well worth the price for the pain that isn't caused with IP address configuration. With this there is no install CD to run or anything. Simply Plug and Play...THAT SIMPLE. I would recommend this to anyone fed up with dropped wireless, weak signal, slow wireless gaming and a far distant from the houses' modem.
