The Apple iPod nano 5G is an advanced iPod announced by Apple in September of 2009. It maintains the same basic outward appearance as its fourth-generation predecessor — sleek body, aluminum casing, and white clickwheel — but there are a tad few changes. The most dramatic improvements include a larger 2.2” LCD screen in the front AND a VGA camcorder in the back. Essentially, Apple is trying to combat the notorious Flip Video (and other mini video recorder products) and will in fact even be pricing the Nano (8GB) at $149.99, which is the same price for an entry-level Flip camcorder. Other notable features include FM radio, a pedometer, and even a microphone with a voice recorder. Included also a plethora of spiffy video effects/filters: heat vision, tunnel vision, security cam vision, B&W, sepia, light tunnel, cyborg.

I've had a 3rd generation Nano for a few years but my wife needed one and we tried a shuffle but it just wasn't what she needed. I got her the Nano and she loves it. It is much easier to use and work through to get to the track you want when you can see it on a screen. Sound is great. I personally like the 3rd generation size but she likes the rectangular size like the current generation.
