There's an emerging trend of popular social games spawning real-world merchandise, the latest of which is Mind Candy's Moshi Monsters. Launched in 2008 and claiming more than 50 million users, the UK-based online game for kids will see its creatures turned into toys next month by Hexbug creator Innovation First.

The Bobble Bots Moshi Monsters are miniature bobble heads made to look like the "adoptable" characters from Mind Candy's game/social network hybrid. What makes them more than simple figurines is the fact that they're based on the same micro-vibration motor technology as the tiny, moving Hexbug toys. By flipping a small switch located on their backs, kids can make the toys scurry around of their own accord, placing them into a variety of play sets, such as the "Gross-ery Store," based on the game's town of Monstro City.

Priced at about $8 apiece, the Bobble Bots Moshi Monsters will hit stores in March. 24 different toys will be available, each including a code redeemable for content in the Moshi Monsters online game.
