Attention Star Wars Superfans: Special edition Xbox 360 due out April 3
Gamers and fans of George Lucas's classic sci-fi films felt a disturbance in the Force this past holiday season when the special edition Star Wars Xbox 360 failed to materialize on store shelves as expected. Originally announced last summer, the console — with its distinctive blue-and-white paint scheme based on Luke Skywalker's droid, R2-D2 — has finally been given a solid release date of April 3 to coincide with the release of Kinect Star Wars from LucasArts, an Xbox-exclusive title we got a look at during E3 2011.

Held up by a delay in the game's development, the $449 console bundle will include the custom Xbox 360 console, a shiny gold controller styled after Artoo's companion, C-3PO, a white Kinect sensor, and a copy of Kinect Star Wars. Available in limited quantities, the bundle will also come packaged with a download code redeemable for a C-3PO character in the game's Galactic Dance Off mode. The console itself doesn't just look like Skywalker's astromech droid: when its power and eject buttons are pressed, it sounds like it, too.

Pre-orders for this far-out console are still being accepted by retailers including Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy, but if you're going to wait and try to find one on shelves come early April, may the Force be with you.
