The newest version of the Mozilla Firefox internet browser, Firefox 10, went live earlier today. If you've already got Firefox installed, upgrading is a snap.
Mozilla Firefox is a free, open-source web browser first released in 2004. Since the release of Firefox 4.0 last year, the browser has undergone new releases on a once-every-6-weeks schedule.
If you've got an older version of Firefox, upgrading to 10.0 is easy. Click the Firefox tab at the top left-hand corner of the browser. Mouseover the "Help" category, and then choose "About Firefox." A window will pop up showing what version your browser currently is, and if it's not 10.0, you'll be offered a one-press button that will update Firefox. Just be sure you don't have anything important open in a browser window — Firefox will need to close all existing windows to complete the upgrade.
If you haven't downloaded Firefox yet and would like to try out the newest iteration of the web browser, you'll need to visit the Firefox website and download Firefox 10.0 directly. And be sure to check out the different Firefox add-ons that are available — they're the best part of running Firefox.
If you're still on the fence about upgrading, you can check out the release notes for Firefox 10.0 at the Mozilla website to see exactly what's been changed since the last release. Firefox 10.0 fixes a handful of bugs present in Firefox 9. It also includes some improvements to the user interface.
