Netflix isn't the only streaming service lining up original programming this year. Just a couple of weeks after it debuted the trailer for its first original program, the crime drama Lilyhammer, competitor Hulu has delivered a first look at Battleground, a mockumentary style political comedy that will premiere on the service next month.
The series, developed by Two and a Half Men actor J.D. Walsh, follows the campaign staff of a Democratic candidate running for senate in Wisconsin. Hulu has ordered 13 episodes of the 22-minute show, with the first episode launching on February 14. It will be available to Hulu Plus subscribers and users with free accounts on that date.
Hulu has also announced its second original series, a travelogue called Up to Speed by Slacker and School of Rock director Richard Linklater. Focusing on offbeat, forgotten monuments, it chronicles the travels of historian Timothy "Speed" Levitch. It debuts this summer.
