CES 2012: Sculpteo app lets you print custom 3D objects
Last year, Sculpteo brought 3D on-demand printing to the cloud, and thus to the masses. If you could create a computer design of an object, they would make it real for you using their 3D printing technology. At the Consumer Electronics Show Unveiled event last night, they showed us their next big idea: an app that allows you to create custom 3D printed objects even if you have no design skills.

Through the app, you can create a vase or coffee cup modeled after the contours of your face using a profile picture. You can also customize a plastic iPhone 4 case with text as well as choose from different colors. Other sculptures, vases, and personalized items are available. Once you customize the item you want, it will be printed and shipped to you.

We saw some great 3D printing technology ideas last year, but Sculpteo is one of the few companies making it accessible to the public. The line of products they offer is limited, but with time, this could evolve into bigger and better 3D products for consumers. In the meantime, you can see their current offerings via their app (iPhone/iPod, iPad).
