Russia considering building the world's tallest Ferris wheel
Never underestimate the power of a giant amusement park ride to draw visitors to your city. Or at least, that's what the Russian government is counting on. In an effort to bump up their tourism numbers from 4 million to 7 million each year, the Moscow government is considering building the world's tallest Ferris wheel in the Russian capital.

The tentative name for the ride is the Moscow View, and it will be built by the Gensler design firm, which also built the River Park in London and the 632-meter Shanghai Tower. At an estimated cost of $300 million, it will make up a good chunk of the $4.5 billion that the Moscow government plans to invest in boosting tourism between now and 2016.

The Moscow View will soar to 722 feet high, almost 200 feet higher than the current record holder for the world's tallest Ferris wheel, the 541-foot Singapore Flyer. The famous London Eye, by comparison, is only 443 feet high.
