The iPhone 4 has a great camera, and it's been used by amateur and professional photographers alike to take great pictures. Coming up this July, though, the iPhone 4 will have some competition in the cameraphone department, in the form of T-Mobile's MyTouch Slide 4G. The 8-megapixel camera has some pretty exciting features.
Like the iPhone 4, the MyTouch Slide 4G will feature a back-illuminated sensor, for improved low-light performance. Where the MyTouch excels, though, is in its zero-lag shutter technology. Basically, the camera starts recording the moment you open the application, holding all that information in a memory buffer. Then when you snap your picture, it actually pulls the picture from the cache, rather than waiting for the physical shutter to open and close.
The MyTouch Slide 4G's lens also has an f-number value of f/2.2, which is a slight improvement over the iPhone 4's f/2.8. The larger aperture means improved low-light performance and greater depth of field. Other intriguing features include panoramic, HDR, and burst modes. The Slide will be running Android 2.3 when it ships sometime in July.
