The Canary Islands, located off the northwest coast of Africa, are well known in tourist circles for their stunning scenery and natural beauty. Unfortunately, most of us will likely never make the trip to see the sights in person. Thankfully, photographer Daniel Lopez has offered us a momentary vacation to the islands without ever having to leave the comfort of our computer chairs.

The video above showcases numerous sights from the area, including scenery from Teide National Park and Mount Teide, a massive volcano that makes up much of the Canary chain's largest island, Tenerife. At around the 1:20 mark, you'll see what is affectionately called the "Teide Sombrero," an ever-present cloud formation engulfing the top of the mountain.

To capture the stunning scenery, Lopez used a dolly system with horizontal and vertical rails to keep the camera steady. He also notes that he used High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology for the recording. HDR is recording method that keeps very bright or very dark portions of the video from affecting the brightness of the picture as a whole, and is designed to make the entire picture viewable without brightness adjustments. The end result is a hypnotic look into a world few ever see.
