It looks like Zoosk might on its way to becoming the new king of online dating sites after announcing its sales grew 250% to a lofty $90 million in 2010. The company attributed its growth to the number of premium subscriptions it's been selling, which are available in 60 countries and 20 languages.
Premium subscriptions allow Zoosk users to send unlimited numbers of messages to each other, whereas the standard free membership puts a limit on these interactions. Paid memberships also place your personal profile higher in search results performed by other Zoosk members.
Zoosk may also be benefiting from expanding its reach beyond the standard web browser, as it already has apps in the iPhone App Store and the Android Marketplace.
Zoosk is up against some big dogs in the online dating fight, not least of which is Match.com, which recently acquired competitor OkCupid for a cool $50 million.
