Italian researchers claim to discover cold fusion
A duo in Italy is the latest to announce a breakthrough discovery
A duo of otherwise obscure Italian scientists claim to have harnessed the power of cold fusion, a process by which science could produce huge amounts of energy cheaply with basically no by-products or pollutants. Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi's purported discovery may have been rejected from peer-reviewed journals, but a YouTube does demonstrate the supposed device in action. Unfortunately, it's entirely in Italian, but if feel free to watch the video above if curiosity gets the better of you.
Rossi and Focardi's claim should inspire plenty of skepticism. A handful of oddballs (including North Korea) have made similar announcements in recent memory and no cold fusion "discovery" to date has amounted to an actual scientific discovery.
