Online goodness to feed your obsession for The River, The Walking Dead, and The Voice
If you plan to make it through this week's digital offerings, you're going to have to have nerves of steel, a strong stomach, and a cold heart.

The Voice
NBC's vocal competition show, The Voice, is back for a new season with a whole new cast of interesting singers. Unlike that other singing show, The Voice has no upper age limit, so you'll see a seasoned veteran going up against a young hopeful alongside a middle-aged man who knows this is his last shot at making his dream come true.

cb-the-voice-loudest-300The other twist to the series is that the initial auditions are conducted blind. Celebrity music coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton have to pick their teams based on the voice alone. Thus, the name of the show. Once the teams are chosen, it's a battle between the mentors to see who can keep their performers in the game the longest.

Think you can pick a better team than any of them? Play The 5th Coach Game on Facebook. After each preliminary round, you'll get a chance to add your favorites to your squad. Choose early for bonus points, or play it safe and wait until after you've seen all the auditions. The game will change after the players reach the battle rounds and again for the finals. Do well and you could win The Voice prizes or an iTunes gift card.

The game looks like fun, but we had no luck adding people to our team. Four tries, and we called it quits. Hopefully, you'll do better.

If you're a part of the myNBC community, you can compete for the title of Loudest Fan by completing weekly social media assignments. Also, follow Christina Milian's Social Media Correspondent blog for more shots at your own 15 minutes of fame.

If you were one of the few brave souls who passed on NCIS: Los Angeles to watch The River, then ABC has a treat for you. It's an interactive walk-through of the derelict Magus, complete with creepy doll tree, episode recap videos, and the thing in the panic room.

If you sign on with your Facebook login, then you'll find some of your own ephemera scattered around the old boat. Unfortunately, their use in this instance isn't as effective as we've seen in other apps such as Take This Lollipop. Instead of enhancing the fright factor, the inclusion of family vacation photos makes the whole experience silly.

Take a look at the slides we found in the boat's cabin. Looks like Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural are hot on the trail of Emmet Cole, too.

The River not creepy enough for you? Then switch to AMC and hang with The Walking Dead. The series is back for a new season, and AMC is enhancing the experience with StorySync.

This is second screen technology that allows you to chat with fans, answer trivia questions, and get official perks while you're watching the show. StorySync runs live during each week's new episode airing. You can also check out the content after the show airs, but beware of spoilers — and zombies.

If you want to become a part of the action, play The Walking Dead: Dead Reckoning. This is an online, comic book adventure game that won't give you carpal tunnel (although it might give you nightmares). The game is made up of moving comic book pages, each with a series of decisions. Choose the right decision, and you move forward in the game. Make the wrong choice, and you're lunch.

The game is artfully drawn and the comic-book style is unusual, but the game play is slow and entirely text-based — an odd choice for a show that emphasizes zombie-killing action.

Frightfully good
Are you brave enough to explore The River? Battle The Walking Dead? Watch a homeless man's dreams of becoming a singer shattered on national TV? This week wouldn't be easy... but it will be highly entertaining.
