Streaming Weekly: Green with Envy when Kermit goes pirate
This week's hot videos have a definite Disney vibe. We'll start off with some Kermit action, as the showbiz frog has his own movie coming out but still found time to swing by another movie's premiere. Then we have another Jack Sparrow parody and a Disney medley. Then we finish out the week with a Gaga parody, a public service announcement, and a zombie musical love story.

1. Green with Envy
Green with Envy teases a movie that would best be called a romantic comedy. Nominally, Amy Adams and Jason Segel meet in the city and fall in love. After the narrator gamely says, "Sometimes, you have to break your heart to find its other half," he lists the stars of the movie, including Kermit the Frog. Listening to the voiceover stumble over the "f" in Frog is pretty funny. The rest of the video is focused on the trademark Muppet shenanigans. While Green with Envy isn't the only trailer we should expect to see for The Muppets, it definitely sets the stage for a good time.

2. Kermit at the premiere for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Kermit's been busy lately. Not only does he have a movie coming out, but he was a commenter at the red carpet premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. In this video, you get to see Kermit dress up as Jack Sparrow. The showbiz frog pals it up with Johnny Depp, Keith Richards, Steve Tyler, and many others. It's especially awesome how the artists and stars took the time to chat with Kermit. All the interviews flow very naturally, and everyone obviously had a good time talking with the legendary frog.

3. Jack Sparrow's Rap
Since the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out this past weekend, there's been a lot of parody material available on the web. (If you didn't see it, you should definitely catch The Lonely Island's performance of Jack Sparrow with Michael Bolton.) This is Jack Sparrow's Rap as performed by Alex Farnham and Nice Peter. We actually found this video through Nice Peter's YouTube channel, which we follow for his weekly comedy songs. Jack Sparrow's Rap does an amazing job keeping with the themes and legends surround Jack Sparrow without simply becoming a rote recital of his catchphrases. The song probably won't be another Friday, but it's certainly fun for the weekend.

4. Disney Medley
Disney seems to be a strong theme around here this week. This video features a medley of several songs from favorite Disney movies, including Tarzan, Mulan, and The Lion King. The song was written and performed by the Doo-Wop Shop, an a cappella group based out of the University of Massachusetts. While the recording of this live performance is crisp and clear, you can also see the studio version on Vimeo. This is a surprisingly fun and animated performance, and the Doo-Wop Shop manages to remind us of some long-forgotten Disney favorites.

5.  Derive This Way
A group of students got together to perform one heck of a calculus project. Using Lady Gaga's Born this Way as their base, they retooled the lyrics and created Derive This Way. While this video probably won't inspire any math newbies to pick up a calculator, it's a fun way to memorize some basic formulas and math terms. We especially love the vaguely '80s outfit worn by the lead singer; she looks like she'd fit right in to a classic Madonna video.

6. Advertisement for the Someday fragrance
We had to look this video up to be absolutely sure we had the straight scoop. It turns out that Justin Bieber is releasing a women's fragrance called Someday. This video is the actual advertisement for that perfume and is already making the viral rounds of the internet, though many viewers are taking it as a tongue-in-cheek parody. But the ad spot is in absolute earnest, and sales for Someday are expected to skyrocket. There's certainly enough buzz around this video to support that expectation, but we still can't quite take the video seriously.

7. Not Acceptable
Warning: There are some strong, potentially jarring racial and cultural slurs in this video, but they are used for the purpose of raising awareness. This Not Acceptable public service announcement probably wouldn't be remarkable except for two things. First, the script for the video is very well written; it does a great job equating the use of "retarded" with any other slur against minorities or people with disabilities. Second, Glee's Jane Lynch and Lauren Potter help get the message across. While we obviously can't expect to see public awareness change overnight, we can hope that using Glee stars will help get the message to more people.

8. Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story
Work warning: This is a zombie movie, and thus, there is violence. In this age of heightened zombie awareness, it's good to see someone focusing on the other side of the story. Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story tells the tale of 2 zombies who fall in love and want nothing more than to slip off to paradise with one another. Even better? It's a musical. This feature-length film is split up across 3 parts on YouTube, and it's completely worth the time. The creators compare Rigamortis to other web hits like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Even if you're not a zombie fan, you should take the time to check out this movie. It's fun, and the performances are fantastic.
